Reading Notes on Wind Power Generation System
📌

What is wind power generation?

Wind power generation is power generation that converts wind energy into electric energy. The wind generating set absorbs wind energy with a specially designed blade and converts wind energy to mechanical energy, which further drives the generator rotating and realizes conversion of wind energy to electric energy.

📌

What is wind power?

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into electricity or mechanical energy using wind turbines. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. A generator can convert mechanical power into electricity. Mechanical power can also be utilized directly for specific tasks such as pumping water.

📌

How much energy does wind power generate a year?

Wind power generation technology is now relatively mature, with annual generation amounting to 640 TWh, accounting for less than 3% of the world’s total energy consumption.

📌

Is wind energy a good option for energy generation?

As energy demand around the world is increasing day-by-day, wind energy is the good option for energy generation. The most common type of wind turbine is horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT), but there exist other types.

📌

How does wind power work?

Wind power is a sustainable and renewable energy. Wind possesses energy by virtue of its motion. Any device capable of slowing down the mass of moving air, like a sail or propeller, can extract part of the energy and convert it into useful work. The spinning blades, attached to a hub and a low-speed shaft, turn along with the blades.
